Root canal therapy is essential for repairing and saving a tooth that is badly decayed. It is carried out when the pulp consisting of abundant blood vessels and nerves suffers from an infection. The appointed practitioner cautiously removes the pulp, cleanse the insides of the tooth, and then seals it.
Individuals are usually afraid of root canals because they assume it will hurt them to a great extent. However, many have admitted that the process is as painful as placing a filling. Well, some natural remedies to alleviate the discomfort include:
1.      Clove oil is used for curing varied dental disorders since time immemorial. According to a renowned dentist of Wagga Wagga, and several other oral care professionals practicing all across the globe, clove oil has eugenol, a natural anaesthetic, which soothes toothache. It also alleviates inflammation.

2.  Cucumbers are noted for being capable of soothing irritated tissues, and they can reduce toothache even better when applied topically. Take a cucumber out of the refrigerator so that it is cold, cut a piece, and hold it on the affected tooth. You can also swish cucumber juice until the pain subsides.

3.      Turmeric is a wonder spice found in nearly everybody’s kitchen. Owing to possessing strong analgesic, antiseptic, and antibacterial properties, it can provide relief from the discomfort caused due to root canal treatment. Add 1 spoon of turmeric powder into 1 cup of lukewarm water, and apply this paste gently inside the mouth. If the taste seems overpowering, you can mix a little honey.

4.      Ice can reduce swelling and numb pain. According to a recent survey, participants who received an ice massage after root canal treatment reported a reduction in the intensity of the discomfort. Do not apply ice cubes directly on the cheek or jawline but wrap them in a soft clean cloth.

5.      Essential oils, also known as plant essences, can cure aching tooth and gums. Pour three to five drops of lemon, eucalyptus, or tea tree oil on a cotton ball, and then place this cotton ball inside your mouth. Press it until the oils have completely numbed the area. You can also add essential oils to warm water, and then rinse your mouth with this solution.

6.      The reputed dentist Wagga Wagga and other dental professionals said the antiseptic properties of onion largely reduce the pain after a root canal. Cut a big slice of onion and see if it fits inside your mouth without any hassle. Allow the onion slice to sit on the treated area for at least ten minutes.
If the natural remedies stated above fails to generate a desirable outcome, individuals can opt for over-the-counter medications. To avoid root canal therapy altogether, please maintain proper oral hygiene.
